Look around your home with a raw, almost primitive eye. If you have any surfaces that are a touch unfinished, make the most of them by emphasizing details that have an industrial feel. Are there exposed water pipes? Or a concrete wall hiding behind that wallpaper?

You’ll also need a color accent if you’re to capture the feel of a classic New York loft. It could be a bright red armchair or a saffron-yellow chaise longue. Now you’re nearly there and can begin fine-tuning with details and flea market finds.
